Keb Taras

Keb Taras

Taras Keb is an artist for whom art did not become the prevalent life component at once. He was born in 1979. At first, he obtained a degree in law, then he studied at the Ukrainian Design Academy. He was probably influenced by his family (his uncle Yosyn was a painter) or the circle of people he grew up in (painter Yuliia Dolynska, artist and musician Marian Pyrih).

Taras Keb’s naïve art is vivid images of the world mythology and folklore, mysterious chimeras, delicious elements of Lviv everyday life and certain intimate tastes and observations. Thematic series of little canvases and wooden pictures, handmade art books, postcards and small art objects prevail in the author’s works.

According to Taras, he is inspired by such naïve artists as Maria Prymachenko, Nikifor Drovnyak, Henri Rousseau, Niko Pirosmani, Ivan Generalić. Native Lviv, the city where he lives in to this day is also an inexhaustible source of inspiration for him.
